Reflection

This semester of IMED has been very beneficial to me, I have learned everything from how to do basic editing of a photo to how to shoot and edit short length videos. I have never been a very artistic person but I believe technology such as photoshop and dreamweaver give everyone an opportunity to explore their more artistic side in very constructive and unique ways. Out of all the projects done I feel that my website had to be my greatest accomplishment along with my greatest challenge. making that website required me to learn about a completely new software as well as implement what I was learning to make a website that was not only visually appealing but also somewhat informative.

My Video

I am not currently sure what I want my video to be about but I would like to do a "How-To" video of some sort. I want to do something relevant to RCHS students such as being proactive, attendance, etc.

Reflections

Through creating my website I learned that websites are a lot more complex than they seem when simplified over the internet. Something that seems so simple and easy to navigate took long hours of preparation and lots of coding.

I found the end product very rewarding. All the time I put into Dreamweaver ending in a functional, cool website. The most challanging and frustrating part of the whole website making process was definitely the initial set up; saving files correctly, correctly naming files, linking folders to other folders, etc.

The next site I build will be a lot more simpler but aesthetically appealing. I feel like the site I did this time around looked nice but was very jumbled. I'd like to go for a more simplistic look to my next site.

Ideas for my webpage

I would like my webpage to display art styles such as grafitti, a multitude of artists from all genres, and different grassroots causes and organizations. I want my webpage to emphasize the new while not totally abandoning what got us here, the old.

What I learned

I learned of different elements of webpage design and ways to make my webpage not only attractive but very functional, imperative to a friendly user experience.

FLYING AWAY FROM THE CITYSCAPE!

I'm a hero flying off on my magical duck escaping the crumbling city. Today we dabbled in sizing and made very cool visuals using pictures we took ourselves, how liberating.

"1990's" masked type

Today we learned to use layers and backgrounds do display cool graphic backgrounds to text. I used a graphic of a grafittied wall and some artists jumping it as the background for my text "1990's", in my opinion, a time characterized by grit and artistic expression in all forms.I found this technique to be really cool and can definitely see myself using this again.

Jet Life T-shirt design

The "Magic Wand" tool by far has to be my favorite and most used tool. The magic wand allows me to keep what I need out of a picture and delete what I don't, making it incredibly useful when using photos found off of the internet. My favorite project has been today's T shirt project because it has allowed me to express myself creatively and show off some of my interests. I don't think I would use photoshop for fun in my spare time but I definitely don't think this will be my last time using this program seeing how it is immensely useful.

Typography: Light Bulb

Typography is an art based on displaying words, symbols, and pictures patterned to create a picture. I created a picture of a light bulb made up of words describing or related to this invention. I found the process to be a lot easier and more fun than I believed it would be initially. Typography can really be used to create some magnificent artwork.

Billboard: Doggy's day off

Today in IMED I learned of the usefulness of layers and of different cropping tools. Today alone I have learned to use over 5 different photo shop tools used to crop, layer, enlarge, warp, and change in many other ways an otherwise basic picture. I am now learning very practical uses for photo shop in the creation of even more detailed pictures out of simpler pictures. My billboard is titled "Doggy's day off" because today the dogs owner has taken a more relaxed approach towards the dogs handling and left fruit out for him to eat.

Self-portrait

Today's lesson was over the use of certain tools in Photoshop, one in particular being threshold a tool allowing you to change the color contrast on your pictures, in our case, making them black and white. We also learned how to change huge .PSD files to much smaller more accessible .JPEG's. Next in Photoshop I would really like to learn how to edit blemishes and small imperfections from pictures.

What I did this summer..

This summer I partied, raved at concerts, and worked like crazy. My summer was packed with fun filled nights, but hinted of slight dissapointment when compared to last summer. I'm not saying last summer I did too much more than I did this summer, but just the fact that most of everything I did was so new to me made the experiences that much better.
this is my first blog..
